Storms, wind knocked out power to more than 20,000 Virginians

Nelson County has the most outages with 1,651

ROANOKE, Va. – Thousands were without power as storms and wind moved through the region.

As a result of the storms and wind on Thursday and Friday, at one point, more than 20,000 Virginians were without power.

As of 6:59 p.m. Friday, Appalachian Power is reporting more than 8,000 customers in Virginia have lost power.
