Authorities believe someone falsely called a bomb threat in at Moneta Bojangles

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the threat on Monday

MONETA, Va. – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has given the all-clear after a bomb threat at the Bojangles near Smith Mountain Lake.

At about 8 a.m., authorities said they were investigating the threat was called in for the fast-food restaurant on Booker T Washington Highway in Moneta.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office does believe the threat was the result of a false accusation call, more commonly known as swatting, when people intentionally call 911 with a fake threat.

The Bojangles will remain closed for the rest of Monday.
