Early voting for 2022 primary elections in Virginia is open

You can vote in-person or by mail

ROANOKE, Va. – Early voting for the 2022 primary elections started Friday.

The year’s Democratic party ballot will include candidates for the city council in Roanoke.

The Republican party ballot will have candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives.

You can only vote for one party. You need to bring an acceptable form of ID to vote at the polls.

Leaders say to expect important notices about the election in the mail.

“Every voter in Roanoke City is going to be receiving a voter notice within the next week or so telling you what your new districts are. So for Roanoke City, the district numbers for house of delegates have changed and quite a few people are in a different district than they were before,” said Andrew Cochran, Roanoke City Director of Elections and General Registrar.

You can cast your early ballot until June 18th. Primary election day is Tuesday, June 21st. For more information, click here.
