New Montgomery County superintendent prepares to take office
Dr. Bragen wants an open dialogue with parents and teachers

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – Several months without a superintendent has left Montgomery County parents with questions as to how the new one will handle business.
The Montgomery County school board voted Tuesday to approve new superintendent Dr. Bernard Bragen.

Dr. Bragen understands that he will have to gain both parents’ and teachers’ trust stepping into this new role.
He wants to create an open dialogue between himself and parents as he moves toward the future.
“I had a zoom meeting Thursday with a number of teachers,” Bragen said. “It was very exciting for me to get their perspectives, to talk to them, and to see what their questions were and what they’re looking for from me as their school leader. I would do the same with parents. Whatever kind of parent/teacher organizations that are already in place, I would like to work with them.”
