APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. – A girl in Appomattox County is being recognized for saving her entire family from a fire.
The fire happened on Oct. 17 around 3:30 a.m., as we reported. When crews arrived, they found the house “fully involved,” with fire showing on all sides.
The family was inside the home at the time of the fire, but Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department said Aalaysia, a middle school student, woke up to the fire and took action.
Crews said Aalaysia went to alert her family, saving all of their lives.
Because of her quick action, the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department awarded her the Civilian Meritorious Service Commendation, as you can see in their post below.
