More than 460k Virginians could lose access to affordable internet

VIRGINIA – More than 460,000 Virginians could lose access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet access.

Starting on February 8, the Affordable Connectivity Program will no longer accept new enrollments and will start reducing the households relying on the program

ACP provides support for nearly 23,000,000 households in the United States.

A statement from the Federal Communications Commission states that they have already started contacting households about the potential loss.

A new bill has been introduced to extend the program which could provide an additional $7 billion.

Funding is expected to last through April.
