VSP investigating fatal crash that killed 52-year-old man in Bedford County Sunday

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police is currently investigating a two vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 52-year-old man, according to VSP.

The crash occurred on Hardy Road, two tenths of a mile south of Turner Branch Road in Bedford County at 5:10 p.m., we’re told.

A 2022 Honda Accord was traveling south on Hardy Road, when the vehicle crossed the center-line and struck a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado head-on, VSP said.

The driver of the Honda has been identified as 52-year-old Bryant Whitby of Moneta. We’re told Whitby was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The 18-year-old driver of the Chevrolet was wearing his seatbelt and was also transported to the hospital for injuries received in the crash.
