Gunfire report at Valley View Mall in Roanoke was a false alarm The noises were caused by teenagers in the mall
ROANOKE, Va. – Police arrived at Valley View Mall in Roanoke after reports of what sounded like gunfire around 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities said several individuals were reported running out of the mall and multiple 911 calls reported the sound of gunfire.
Upon investigation, police found the sounds came from a group of teenagers who were tearing down and banging on metal signs within the mall.
No shots were fired, and there was no threat to the public.
