The school said in Statement Friday:

“While we are disappointed, we’re very proud of how hard The Corps and staff have worked to prepare and practice for the inaugural parade. We look forward to participating in future inaugural parades, as VMI has done since the early 20th century.”

Liberty University stated the following about the event on their website:

“Due to weather-related changes, the Presidential Inaugural Committee notified the Liberty University marching band, The Spirit of the Mountain, that the indoor venue will not be able to accommodate the band. While we are all disappointed by this unforeseen development, we are honored to have been invited and proud of the talent and dedication of our marching band students and supporters. No further changes have been made that would impact other inaugural events this week. Liberty University remains committed to celebrating the 47th Presidential Inauguration and supporting our nation’s peaceful transition of power and highest traditions.”
