WATCH: Roanoke store celebrates Dolly Parton by donating to local arts

ROANOKE, Va. – The Queen of Country Dolly Parton just had her 79th birthday last weekend and Mast General Store is still celebrating by supporting local arts.

From now until Jan. 26, the Mast General Store in downtown Roanoke is encouraging shoppers to “Round up” their purchases to support the Grandin Theatre.

“Well Dolly has a long history of philanthropy, she’s done everything from fund hospitals to helping with disaster relief and of course her imagination library, so we just thought it’d be a great opportunity to celebrate her and our local arts community,” Olivia King, General Manager, said.

The Mast Store believes that art enriches the community by boosting the local economy and improving the quality of life.

With the funding, The Grandin Theatre is trying to make art more accessible to everyone in and around Roanoke.
