Virginia sees 241 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 2,878 statewide

RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 2,878 “presumptively positive” cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of April 6.

Monday’s total of 2,878 cases marks an increase from 2,637 on Sunday, 2,407 on Saturday, 2,012 on Friday, 1,710 on Thursday, 1,488 on Wednesday, 1,256 on Tuesday, 1,026 on Monday, 901 on Sunday and 748 on Saturday.

Here’s a breakdown of the 241 new cases in Virginia:

  • 62 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 22 new cases in Arlington County
  • 21 new cases in Loudon County
  • 19 new cases in Alexandria
  • 18 new cases in Prince William County
  • 13 new cases in Henrico County
  • Eight new cases in Virginia Beach
  • Six new cases in Richmond
  • Six new cases in Suffolk
  • Five new cases in Chesapeake
  • Four new cases in Frederick County
  • Four new cases in Isle of Wight County
  • Three new cases in Manassas City
  • Three new cases in New Kent County

These cases are “presumptively positive,” meaning they are pending confirmatory testing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of Monday at 9 a.m., the Virginia Dept. of Health reports that 24,521 people have been tested.
