Tuesday’s total of 58,994 marks an increase from Sunday’s total of 58,465 cases.
Here is a breakdown of the 529 new cases in Virginia:
- 80 new cases in Fairfax County
- 74 new cases in Chesterfield County
- 58 new cases in Prince William County
- 23 new cases in Richmond City
- 22 new cases in Henrico County
- 20 new cases in Loudoun County
- 19 new cases in Roanoke City
- 18 new cases in Roanoke County
- 15 new cases in Chesapeake
- 14 new cases in Virginia Beach
- 12 new cases in Alexandria and Albemarle County
- 8 new cases in Spotsylvania County and Botetourt County
- 7 new cases in Arlington County and Culpeper County
- 6 new cases in Stafford County
- 5 new cases in Newport News, Winchester, Hanover County, York County and Lynchburg
- 4 new cases in Fauquier County, Charlottesville, Shenandoah County, Dinwiddie County, Caroll County, Bedford County and Powhatan County
- 3 new cases in Nottoway County, Suffolk, Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Galax, Orange County, Hopewell, Waynesboro and Fluvanna County

As of Tuesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 627,248 total testing encounters.
The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
