Virginia sees 1,216 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 104,838 statewide

There are now 2,370 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 104,838 cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of August 14.

Friday’s total of 104,838 marks an increase from Thursday’s total of 103,622 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 1,216 new coronavirus cases in Virginia:

  • 113 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 87 new cases in Prince William County
  • 76 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 45 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 43 new cases in Henrico County
  • 42 new cases in Arlington County
  • 38 new cases in Loudoun County and Newport News
  • 37 new cases in Norfolk
  • 34 new cases in Greensville County
  • 30 new cases in Alexandria and Chesterfield County
  • 28 new cases in Richmond and Suffolk
  • 23 new cases in Pittsylvania County and Lynchburg
  • 19 new cases in Prince George County
  • 18 new cases in Hampton
  • 16 new cases in Henry County
  • 15 new cases in Southampton County
  • 14 new cases in Stafford County, Albermarle County and Hanover County
  • 11 new cases in Spotsylvania County, Danville and York County
  • 10 new cases in Manassas, Roanoke and Manassas Park
  • 9 new cases Campbell County, Martinsville, Isle of Wight County and Prince Edward County

As of Friday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 1,429,216 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
