1st and 10 Camp Tour: Parry McCluer

The Fighting Blues looking to improve off last years 5-7 campaign

BUENA VISTA, Va. – Our first and 10 Camp Tour continues in Buena Vista where we check in on Parry McCluer. The Fighting Blues are looking to improve off a 5-7 campaign a year go.

In the first year under head coach Mark Wheeler, the Fighting Blues advanced to the second round of the playoffs. This season, they still plan on taking advantage of the run game but are expanding the playbook.

"The thing that we've tried to do is develop a passing game for when our running game just isn't working. What happens is people will put 11 people in the box and it's hard to run anywhere with 11 people, you're out numbered. So what we try to do is to develop are passing so we can loosen those guys up when they put them up in there. But we're still going to be a running game," said Wheeler.

"It's new because we haven't done that much obviously. But I think it's going to be fun. I think it's good for our team, good for the future I think, open things up," said quarterback Zach Claytor.

"Last year was a rebuilding year. New coach and everything and we did pretty good. So coming back everything feels good. Feels the same, we feel even better than we did last year so expecting more," said lineman Graham Armstrong.

The Fighting Blues open their season at rival Rockbridge County on August 24th.
