CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS)- Coach Tim Cromer is entering his 14th season at the home of the Blue Demons.   He's racked up 26 playoff games, 13 postseason wins and a state runner-up finish to Briarwoods in 2011.

Coming off a 500 season(6-6) last year, and another playoff win before bowing out in the 3A playoffs to Western Albermarle by a touchdown. They've got the bulk of their defense back,  and coach Cromer is happy with the work they put in his offseason.

"Well the nice thing about this group is our our numbers may not be quite as big as we were last year. We are in the low 60s which is kind of low for us, but we had the best summer we ever had with the percentage of doing our off-season workouts.  Our seniors are really coachable and the young kids are excited about what we're doing and it's just been a fun group to coach. With the hours that would put in, and the years I've been doing it it's nice to have that," explains Coach Cromer.

"It's always great to see a lot of your teammates out here put in the work that some people are not willing to do. If you see people working out here hopefully it will help you on the field later on in season," says senior Mitchell Walters.

The Blue Demons don't open the season until September 4th when they host the Class 2A perennial power Giles Spartans.
