Glenvar, East Mont boys earn wins on soccer pitch Tuesday night

Mustangs notch another shutout victory

ROANOKE, Va. – Tuesday night served up more good boys soccer action down the I-81 south corridor. In Elliston, Eastern Montgomery hosted visiting Galax.

The Mustangs found success early with goalie Gunner Lawson keeping the Maroon Tide out of the net. Offensively, Clayton Holloway found the net in the first half as East Mont cruised to a 3-0 victory over Galax.

At Highlander Heaven, a.k.a. Glenvar, the Highlanders hosted fellow Three Rivers District opponent Carroll County. Bryce King scored the first goal of the night on a penalty kick in the sixteenth minute of the game.

While Carroll County had a few shots on goal including one by Landon Puckett, Glenvar’s relentless offensive efforts paid off. Heath Russell caught the Cavaliers goalie out of position and notched the Highlanders second goal of the night. Glenvar would go on to an impressive 6-0 victory. The defending VHSL Class 2 State Champions are now 14-0 this season.
