Alonza Barnett III named Sun Belt Player of the Year

The Dukes tally over 500 yards of offense.

Alonza Barnett III accounts for three touchdowns to lead James Madison to a 31-13 victory over Liberty. On Saturday, Barnett's 21-yard touchdown pass to Landon Ellis tied the game 10-all at halftime. He then scored on a 9-yard run early in the fourth quarter, extending the Dukes' lead to 24-13, and capped the scoring with a 13-yard run. Barnett completed 17 of 25 passes for 213 yards and added 45 yards rushing. Wayne Knight contributed an 81-yard drive, finishing with 89 yards rushing. Liberty was limited to 75 yards passing and 233 yards of total offense.

Backup Billy Atkins threw for 181 yards and a touchdown in his first start since 2022.
