A new chapter in community mental health care began on Tuesday as Essential Hands officially opened the doors to its new four-bedroom residential facility. The organization held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of what leaders say is the first facility of its kind for adults in Lynchburg.

Elected Officials Day is Friday and officials and partners will come together on Friday to celebrate the ribbon-cutting event of the newly renovated Salem Distribution site, according to Feeding Southwest Virginia.

The center said that they will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 11 at 8:00 a.m. to celebrate the opening.
