Roanoke Fire-EMS Department and Lynchburg Fire Department announced they are both assisting in portions of Southwest Virginia that have been impacted by floodwaters.

Baits will be distributed throughout a vaccination area that includes parts of Bland, Giles, Grayson, Smyth, Russell, Washington, Wythe, Tazewell, Bristol, and Abingdon. In total, approximately 216,000 coated sachet baits containing the oral rabies vaccine will be distributed across a 4,280-square-kilometer bait zone in southwestern Virginia.

With dry air and gusty winds, fire threats are going to continue today. However, relief is on the way!

FEMA is offering assistance if you live in Giles, Grayson, Tazewell, Washington and Wythe Counties or Galax and you were impacted by Helene.

A tornado warning issued for Bland and Tazewell counties has expired.
