2016's Stop 12: Danville

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - On Friday, Stop 12 on the Virginia Proud Weather Tour took Jeff Haniewich to Ballou Park in Danville for the city's Festival in the Park.

The three-day event showcases about 69 craft and food vendors. About 30,000 people are expected to come during the course of the weekend.

Anna Pickeral, the board president for Festival in the Park, said each year the festival evolves.

"Over 42 years we have gone and added entertainment and this year we've gone and added, as they said, the 200-foot slip-and-slide," explained Pickeral. "Just in case you're wondering, it's free."

This year, the children's area has a pirate theme.

On Friday, the festival is open from 4 - 8 p.m.; on Saturday, it's open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, it's open from 1 to 6 p.m.

Also happening in Danville is the Music on Main Concert Series. The next concert is Thursday, May 19 featuring the Les Moore Trio. All concerts are free and begin at 6:30 p.m.

On Monday, the Virginia Proud Weather Tour will be in Giles County at Mountain Lake Lodge.
