ROANOKE, Va. – Monday’s temperatures at the capitol will rival some of the coldest days that a President has been sworn into office.

Top 10 Coldest Days

Ronald Reagan was sworn in for a second term on January 21st of 1985 with a high temperature of 17°F. This is the coldest high temperature for the Washington, D.C. area on Inauguration Day.

Coincidentally, Reagan’s first inauguration in 1981 featured the warmest inauguration temperature in the month of January with a high of 56°F.

Monday’s ceremony is forecast to be the third coldest in history. Here is a look at how cold it will be across the DMV.
