Roanoke, VA – Temperatures are slowly climbing, and we’re in store for a pretty warm weekend
This morning is the last morning of icy temperatures, with the last few cold alerts expected to expire. Highs today will max out in the 40s, with winds getting gusty in the afternoon and evening.
We’ll stay largely in the 40s this weekend, and get even warmer next week. This pattern shift kicks off a warming trend that could result in high temperatures in the 50s, potentially by the middle of next week.
We could see a stray snow shower Monday morning in higher elevations as moisture from the south enters the region. This warm pattern will certainly help melt any remaining snow and ice throughout the region. The next chance of rain comes later next week on Thursday.
Mostly quiet conditions take hold for the end of January, although we could see another system come in at the beginning of February, that would bring rain and maybe a few snow showers.
