ROANOKE, Va. – Your Local Weather Authority is continuing to track warmer-than-average temperatures Tuesday afternoon, but rain showers and cloud cover eventually move in and cool down the region.
If you are heading out the door Tuesday morning or are planning on doing some exercise outside, it will be mild out there! Morning temperatures are in the 50s and 60s.
You will also notice breezy to windy conditions throughout the day. Sustained winds will be around 10 mph with stray gusts getting up to 20-25 mph.
Temperatures get back into the 60s Tuesday afternoon, and I do believe some spots further south and east will outperform the forecasted high temperatures.
Another front moves in Wednesday and brings isolated showers to the region starting in the evening hours. Cloud cover will keep our temperatures closer to average around 50 degrees.
Partly cloudy skies continue into Thursday as more showers build in from the west. This is the start of the pattern flip.
Later this weekend, the jet stream starts to slide to the south. As we head into the middle of February, this pattern looks to settle into place, bringing an active stretch of weather and cooler temperatures to the mid-Atlantic.
