New business opens in Pearisburg with the return of a familiar face

PEARISBURG (WSLS 10) – A new business in Giles County celebrates it's grand opening Tuesday night, along with a homecoming for a local entrepreneur.

The Chamber of Commerce scheduled the grand opening for Matthew's Jewelers in Pearisburg.

Returning home to Giles, the business is a start-up owned by Giles native Ciara Meredith and her future husband Matthew Chaff.

Immediately following high school in Giles County, Ciara moved to Portland Oregon to train as a Master Bench Jeweler at the American Jewelers Institute. She currently is working on a second career in Electrical Engineering Technology.

Matthew has worked as a jeweler for over 10 years, starting his career with Stuller at the headquarters in Ohio, moving to New York to continue his career and on to Indianapolis Indiana as a business partner of Midwest Manufacture.

Both are skilled bench jewelers who will work run the jewelry store offering a full line of repairs and retail merchandise.

The grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19th from 5:30 to 9:00 pm. The address is 623 South Main St. Pearisburg VA.
