FRIES (WSLS 10) - Leaders in the town of Fries are urging people who live there to be cautious of the lead in the water.
Leaders issued a notice that workers have found elevated levels of lead in the drinking water. In the notice, it said higher levels were detected during routine sample in 2015 and again during a special sampling in July 2016.
"Hope there's none cause it's really bad. We get them letters two to three times a year about lead in the water and about possibly lead in the water," said Melissa Gilbert, who lives in the area.
Town leaders said they are evaluating changes to the treatment system, including adding new treatment chemicals to reduce how corrosive the drinking water can be for residents.
