MARTINSVILLE, Va. – There's a new option for urgent care in Martinsville.
The ribbon was cut for a new MedExpress office Tuesday.
MedExpress is a nationwide urgent care clinic company.
This is only the second MedExpress here in Southside. The other one is in Danville.
Along with the ribbon-cutting Tuesday, the facility was open for the community to tour.
The goal was to help people in Martinsville understand what services are provided, especially since there is only one other MedExpress in Southside.
The office is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, no appointments necessary.
Along with services such as regular checkups and physicals, the office also has the ability to preform X-rays and minor procedures and even offers some IV treatments.
The office is also connected to the Walgreens on Commonwealth Boulevard in an effort to help anyone who may need to get a prescription filled.
"We just felt we were a great fit for the community with the neighborhood clinics that we open up all the time. With Danville being very successful, we felt that Martinsville was our next step in the area," said MedExpress area business and operations manager Eamon Given.
"As we were getting prepared to open, quite a few people came to our center to inquire when we were opening. So, I think the community's very excited," Given continued.
To celebrate the opening, free sports physicals are being offered Wednesday through May 16.
