Teacher arrested at elementary school for public intoxication

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – A Montgomery County elementary school teacher is accused of being intoxicated at work. 

Montgomery County Public Schools Human Resources personnel called the sheriff's office at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday. 

Chelsea E. Carter, 26, of Wytheville, is a teacher at Eastern Montgomery Elementary School. Deputies met with her in the principal's office. 

Carter is listed as a kindergarten teacher on the school's website. 

Carter was arrested and charged with public intoxication. She was released on bond from the Montgomery County Jail several hours later.
