Congressional App Challenge winners announced

ROANOKE, Va. – This year’s Congressional App Challenge winners have been announced and the winners are all students from Hidden Valley High School.

The winners submitted an app that would help the nationwide quiz bowl competition quickly and accurately keep score.

The high school creators are David Arnorld, Shreyas Gullapalli, Meng’yun Lee (Mavis), Yifei Zhao, Meng’yun Lee, and Yifei Zhao. The Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide event that allows high school and middle school students to compete by creating an app or software application of their choice.

The four students were told that they won in their district by Rep. Bob Goodlatte. One of the student winners, David Arnold, says this is just the beginning of his  career. “This provides a lot of experience for us in the future and for creating apps,” said Arnold.

“It is going to help us apply our knowledge in real world scenarios.”The student’s app will be featured at the U.S Capitol building and will be invited to the House of Code reception in Washington,D.C.
