Authorities identify woman killed in Franklin County crash

Accident at Rt. 122, Hardy Rd. intersection

FRANKLIN COUNTY, VAUPDATE

Authorities have released the name of the woman killed in a Franklin County crash Tuesday night. 

Authorities say the crash happened around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of Route 122 and Hardy Road. 

A 2001 Nissan Sentra was going east on Hardy Road when the driver failed to yield at the intersection and was hit by a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, according to state police. 

Police say the driver of the Nissan was Madison Keaton, 24, of Hardy. She was reportedly wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene. 

The driver of the Jeep was hurt and treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. 

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation. 


UPDATE

The crash resulted in a fatality, according to Virginia State Police.

It happened around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Route 122 and Hardy Road in Franklin County.

There is no other information at this time.

All southbound lanes are still closed as of 9:54 p.m., according to VDOT.
