Logger airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a falling tree in Galax

Happened shortly before 2 p.m. in the 2600 block of Crossroads Drive

GALAX, Va. – A logger needed to be airlifted to a hospital after being hit by a falling tree, according to the Galax Fire Department.

The logging incident happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the 2600 block of Crossroads Dr in the Baywood Community.

Authorities say once medics stabilized the logger, the patient was carried 50 yards to a 4WD and then airlifted to AirCare Wake Forest Baptist Health.

Officials say the logger was seriously injured in the incident.
