ORIGINAL STORY
Several officers have surrounded a residence on Arcadia Drive in Roanoke as they respond to a barricaded subject, according to the Roanoke Police Department.
Authorities say this started as a domestic situation where the subject assaulted a female victim. We’re told the victim wasn’t seriously injured and is now safe with officers.
However, the subject, who police suspect may be armed, remains inside as officers attempt to negotiate a peaceful surrender.
A tactical unit is on scene as a precaution.
“There was no weapon used in the assault, but again there is suspicion that he does have a weapon while he is in the house. That’s why we are using these resources to address the situation,” said Stokes.
Drivers are asked to avoid this area if they can as officers work the incident.
