WATCH: Blacksburg Police launch ‘Blue Santa’ campaign for local kids

BLACKSBURG, Va. – They are celebrating a little holiday cheer, while also supporting the community in Blacksburg.

The Blacksburg Police Department is holding its first-ever Blue Santa Angel Tree campaign.

Running till Friday, December 13th, they’ve set up a Christmas tree at the police station with tags of items for local kids that you can buy for them.

Lieutenant Kale Craver with Blacksburg Police said this is just a small way they can give back to the community.

“We really, really want to truly make sure we are serving the community that we’re a part of and this is a way we came up with to ensure that’s happening,” said Craver. “We have to have that relationship and trust with the community because without that, we can’t function as a police department.”

Lieutenant Craver said while they have already had lots of people donate, there are still a few angels left for folks to pick up.
