Rushing floodwaters turned roads into rivers in Botetourt County.

The Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department and members of the Botetourt County Fire and EMS Special Operations and Tactic Team responded to severe flooding on Grove Hill Road.

Multiple homes and vehicles were surrounded by water. Emergency managers say at least 20 people were impacted, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Officials say this area doesn’t usually flood, and the fast-moving storm caught many off guard.

A reminder if you’re driving, ‘turn around, don’t drown’ and avoid any flooded roads, even after the water recedes, because the road could be damaged.

As of Tuesday morning, the water is going down, but damage assessments are still underway.
