A proposed bill would make bullying a crime in Virginia.
‘Autumn’s Law’ would classify bullying as a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia. The bill was introduced by Sen. Bill Stanley, a Republican representing Virginia’s 7th Senate district.
The law is named in honor of Autumn Bushman, a 10-year-old Roanoke County student, who took her own life in March of 2025 after she was bullied.
