Martinsville residents have 'Coffee With A Cop'

Police department held third "Coffee With A Cop' event Tuesday

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Martinsville police officers are taking time to get to know residents in a relaxed environment.

The police department held its third "Coffee With A Cop" event Tuesday morning.

Officers were at the McDonald's on Commonwealth Boulevard to talk to people and give them an opportunity to discuss any concerns they may have.

This was Police Chief Eddie Cassady's first "Coffee With A Cop" event as chief.

While he says the event is a little different now that he is no longer deputy chief, he still enjoys it.

"We stay very involved with our citizens. We're going to continue to stay very involved with our citizens and hear their concerns," Cassady emphasized.

"So any time they have a problem or something we're not aware of that we can help with, it's worthwhile."

He added that the previous two events have helped identify issues that other city departments have been able to address as well.
