Radford forces OT, falls short in Big South tournament

Radford falls to North Carolina A&T in the Big South Tournament (WSLS)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Marcus Watson had 18 points and 11 rebounds to carry North Carolina A&T to a 78-71 overtime win over Radford in the first round of the Big South Conference Tourney. Josiah Jeffers led the Highlanders on Wednesday with 18 points.

Radford showed grit after trailing by as many as 16 in the first half and 15 in the second half. They put together a 17-4 run, preventing the Aggies from scoring a field goal for nearly 12 minutes. Jeffers had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation with a mid-range jumper that was in and out of the rim.

In overtime, it was all Aggies who started the period on a 9-0 run, leading to the 78-71 win. Radford’s first season under head coach Darris Nichols came to an end with an 11-18 overall record, 7-9 in Big South play.
