Radford cruises to third straight win, beat Charleston Southern
A composure that only comes with experience showed up in crunch time as Radford men’s basketball team held on to defeat Charleston Southern, 75-70, on Carilion Clinic Court at the Dedmon Center on Saturday afternoon. Leading by as many as 15 points in the second half, the Highlanders (10-9, 4-2 Big South) braced themselves for an unrelenting comeback effort from the Buccaneers (7-10, 3-3 Big South). A 9-0 run by CSU made it a six-point game with 14 minutes to play and the guests kept it close from there on out.
Justyn Mutts returns to Virginia Tech, “I’m ecstatic for this year”
It was a welcome sight for Hokies on Saturday, as Justyn Mutts took to the practice court for a workout in July. A sure sign of Mutts’ return, just weeks after announcing he would be coming back for another season with Virginia Tech. The high flying forward played a huge part in the Hokies postseason run last year, and is excited to be back.
Roanoke College men’s basketball team hosts over 100 kids in summer camp
Over 100 boys ages 6-15 swarmed to the Cregger Center this week for a summer day camp with the Roanoke College men’s basketball team. Lead by head coach Clay Nunley, the campers were separated into leagues based on age and skill level where they were able to work on fundamentals, 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games, and be coached by their favorite players.
Three Hokies score in double figures in Virginia Tech’s 69-52 victory against Virginia
Elizabeth Kitley notched a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds to help the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team beat the Virginia Cavaliers 69-52 at home Tuesday as the squad advanced to 5-1 in the ACC for the first time in program history.
