What's News Today: November 21, 2017

Here's a look at some of the stories we'll be following today

Vinton Town Council is expected to vote tonight to postpone taking action on eliminating eight Valley Metro stops.  The town is proposing to eliminate eight stops on Washington Avenue.  The town says the move would save $15,000 to $20,000 a year.  Council is also expected to pass a resolution supporting the federal Historic Tax Credit program, which is eliminated in the House of Representatives Tax Reform Bill.  The program served as an incentive in the Roland E. Cook and William Byrd redevelopment projects.

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors will discuss the Summit View Business Park today.  The county is talking to a prospective business for one of the sites in the southern part of the park.  A road will need to be built and utilities installed to gain access to it.  The board is expected to issue a request for proposal to support the construction.

After spending a night in a luxurious Washington D.C. hotel, two turkeys will make an appearance at the White House today.  The birds will be pardoned by President Trump.  After the pardoning, the birds will join last year's turkeys at Virginia Tech to live out the rest of their lives.
