The University of Lynchburg baseball team captured its fourth consecutive NCAA Division III regional championship Sunday, defeating Christopher Newport 11-4.

It was deja vu for Washington & Lee men’s and women’s lacrosse fans, as both teams lost to Christopher Newport in the NCAA tournament on Sunday. The women fell 8-7 in overtime while the men were downed 13-12.

The Captains and the Thunder will play a best of three for the NCAA Division III Softball title in Salem.

In what amounted to a 'double-up' day of games because of Friday's weather issues, it was Top-seeded Christopher Newport and the 6-seed Trine University that have come through without a loss thusfar.

Three ODAC schools make the field including the tournament champion Lynchburg.
