LYNCHBURG, Va. – School leaders in Lynchburg voted Tuesday night to delay the return to a hybrid schedule by a few days in January due to a possible spike in COVID-19 cases after the holidays and travel. Initially, the plan was for students to return to a hybrid schedule on January 4, which is the first day back from winter break. The Lynchburg School Board voted 7-2 Tuesday night in favor of shifting to Phase Two remote learning for all students from January 4 through 8. As of now, the new plan is to return to the hybrid schedule on January 11. The school board also voted 5-4 in favor of athletics to move to Phase Two for January 4 through 8 as well.

Meanwhile sixth grade through high school students will stay online until Sept. 8. This date will help give school leaders two weeks to evaluate their process and bring older students back. We are going to require that students who ride the bus wear the mask for the duration that they are on the bus, Edwards said. Teachers will be checking temperatures at the schools and not on the bus like some LCS parents would prefer. Temperature dependence on a really, really hot day we may not get an accurate day read or on a really, really cold day we may not get an accurate reading, Edwards said.

LYNCHBURG, Va. On Tuesday night one group will be able to make its pitch to the Lynchburg School Board about why the division should no longer have school resource officers. Due to the coronavirus, the school board is asking Reason Chandler, with Virginia Organizing, and Lynchburg Police Chief Ryan Zuidema to send letters in via email explaining why school resource officers should go or stay. Part of my letter also asks the school board and Dr. Edwards, who is our superintendent, to maybe hand this off to our equity task force, said Chandler, whos also a Lynchburg dad asking the school board to remove all school resource officers. Right now, there are a total of five school resource officers spread out in the middle and high schools. But first, school board members are expected to read their letters out loud to the public on Tuesday evening.

The girl was born through a landmark uterus transplant clinical trial at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. Indy's birth is the fourth in the clinical trial. This is the final frontier in research for infertility, said Dr. Giuliano Testa, principal investigator of the uterus transplant clinical trial at Baylor University Medical Center, chief of abdominal transplantation, and chairman of the Baylor Annette C. and Harold C. SimmonsTransplant Institute. They are doing more than expanding their family, they are helping others who have been diagnosed with absolute uterine factor infertility.

Rocky Mount, Va. - The 1st and 10 HS Camp Tour heads into the Class 6 ranks to check in on the Franklin County Eagles. Franklin County suffered through a winless 2015, but has been trending upward since. The Eagles enter year five under J.R. Edwards, who has continued to place emphasis on the strength program, and it's now paying dividends. Franklin county is coming off its first winning season since 2011. Franklin County opens the season on the road at Liberty on Friday night.

Marsha Edwards, 58; Erin Edwards, 20; and Christopher Edwards Jr., 24, were found inside their Atlanta suburb home Wednesday when police entered, but they were long dead, according to Cobb County Police. Marsha Edwards was the ex-wife of Dr. Christopher Edwards, an orthopedic surgeon and the chairman of Atlanta's housing authority. "Christopher Edwards learned Wednesday of the death of his former wife, Dr. Marsha Edwards, and his two adult children, Christopher Edwards, Jr. and Erin Edwards. "NABJ extends its condolences, prayers and thoughts to the family, friends and colleagues of Marsha Edwards, Christopher Edwards II and Erin Edwards," the organization said in a statement. Chris Edwards took part in the NABJ conference in Miami recently and attended CNN's producer training and recruiting workshop at the event.
