Highlanders leave no doubt once again in drubbing of the Hawks

The Gretna Hawks and Floyd County Buffaloes faced off in a high-stakes Region 2C football game that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Altavista Colonels visited Gretna Hawks tonight in a decisive Dogwood District football game.

The senior quarterback accounted for over 350 yards and four touchdowns.

Gretna and Appomattox County met in the Dogwood District with both teams unbeaten in district play.

A battle of two 4-1 programs as the Nelson County Governors faced off against the Gretna Hawks on Friday night. The Hawks got the best of the Governors in last year’s matchup and are only continuing to improve under 5th-year coach Shaun Miller.

Tunstall’s football team, known for scoring over 40 points in each of their first two games, faced a tough challenge early in the season against Gretna.

Glenvar beat Gretna 30-8.

The Hilltoppers left no doubt on Friday night.

APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. – Appomattox County defended home field Friday night, beating Dogwood District rival Gretna 35-14 to advance to the state semifinal. Appomattox County was state champion in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The Raiders will host the winner of the Central-Wise/Graham game on Saturday.
