The fire at a waterfront scrap yard sent a plume of black smoke over the city at about 9:30 a.m. but was quickly extinguished. AdIt sank during a nor’easter in 2007 and was sold for scrap.

A publicist for Ford told media the actor misheard a radio instruction from the air traffic controller (ATC). The actor, who played swashbuckling space smuggler Han Solo in the Star Wars film franchise, was at the controls of a two-seat Aviat Husky light plane in the incident. The FAA did not discipline the actor over that incident, but asked him to complete awareness training.

On Wednesday, Variety reported that Spielberg will not direct the fifth movie in the Indiana Jones franchise and director James Mangold ("Ford v. Ferrari") is now in talks to take the helm. Spielberg has directed every Indiana Jones film since the first, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," which premiered in 1981. It's likely the film could see another delay now that Spielberg is out as director.

An AIDS charity with which the actor was involved, the Rutger Hauer Starfish Foundation, said he died peacefully at his Dutch home. Of working with director Ridley Scott, the actor later said, " I understood, on a very strong level, what he wanted, and by instinct I gave it to him." (Verhoeven later considered him for the lead in the movie "RoboCop," which ultimately went to Peter Weller.) On Twitter, director Guillermo del Toro called Hauer "an intense, deep, genuine and magnetic actor that brought truth, power and beauty to his films."
