NCAA probe is 'speed bump' to Vols' new coach Josh Heupel

Heupel was introduced Wednesday as the program's 27th head coach and fifth, not counting interim or acting coaches, since the end of the 2008 season. New athletic director Danny White said Tennessee ran an “exhaustive nationwide search” led by the same search firm that helped land White. White was hired last week to replace the retiring Phillip Fulmer and hiring a new coach was his first task.

A fan in Florida drew worldwide attention earlier this month after he was teased for pinning a hand-drawn U.T. The university adopted the boy's shirt as an official school design and says it has taken more than 50,000 pre-orders.

The boy drew his own version of the UT logo on a piece of paper and pinned it to an orange T-shirt. Smokey, the University of Tennessee's costumed mascot, wore his own homemade paper logo in a video posted over the weekend thanking the boy for his support.
University makes shirt from boy's design after he's bullied

"Share in a Florida elementary student's Volunteer pride by wearing his design on your shirt too!," the university's official campus store said on Twitter. According to the university, a portion of the proceeds from every shirt sold will go to an anti-bullying foundation. Randy Boyd, interim university president, even chimed in, tweeting that he was "touched" by the student's story and "loved his imagination behind designing his own shirt."
