Testimony: Professor noted ties to China in reports
A University of Tennessee professor charged with hiding his relationship with a Chinese university to get research grants from a federal agency filed multiple reports with the school detailing his ties, according to court testimony. Anming Hu is standing trial this week in Knoxville. According to testimony Tuesday, Hu filed reports at the university listing his work with Chinese students and links to research papers listing his status as a professor at both UT and the Beijing University of Technology in China, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.news.yahoo.com

Heupel was introduced Wednesday as the program's 27th head coach and fifth, not counting interim or acting coaches, since the end of the 2008 season. New athletic director Danny White said Tennessee ran an “exhaustive nationwide search” led by the same search firm that helped land White. White was hired last week to replace the retiring Phillip Fulmer and hiring a new coach was his first task.
College football coach fired after posting "hateful" tweet about Stacey Abrams
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga fired an assistant coach after he posted a tweet disparaging former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and activist Stacey Abrams, the school announced in a 45-second video. Chris Malone, who was an offensive line coach for the Mocs, smeared Abrams while peddling election fraud claims in a now-deleted tweet Tuesday night. "Coach Malone is no longer a part of this university," Angle said Thursday. "The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga does not tolerate and unequivocally condemns discrimination and hatred of all forms," Angle added. A fan in Florida drew worldwide attention earlier this month after he was teased for pinning a hand-drawn U.T. The university adopted the boy's shirt as an official school design and says it has taken more than 50,000 pre-orders.

Smokey, the University of Tennessee's costumed mascot, wore his own homemade paper logo in a video posted over the weekend thanking the boy for his support.
