The future of Stewartsville Elementary School remains uncertain after the Bedford County School Board voted to postpone its decommissioning decision by one year.

A legal fight is brewing in Bedford County over plans to close a long-standing neighborhood school, and parents say they were left out of the process entirely.

The Bedford County School Board voted 5-2 in favor of closing Stewartsville Elementary on Thursday night in a move that parents say will mean longer bus rides and the loss of a community hub.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public in the Stewartsville area (specifically Mountain Meadows Subdivision) in locating a missing endangered adult.

Two people, including a deputy were hurt in a crash Wednesday in Bedford County.

Multiple crews battled a house fire that sent two people to the hospital.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. - A round of strong storms has knocked out power to nearly 5,000 customers in Bedford County. The largest section of outages is in the Stewartsville area affecting more than 3,300 customers. As of 7:15 p.m., 4,851 AEP customers in Bedford County do not have power.
