ROANOKE, Va. – Friday and Saturday will no doubt feature the coldest mornings of the season when you factor in the wind. Frostbite can occur in as little as 15 minutes during the coldest parts of the next couple of days.
WIND:

Gusty northwest winds, to a tune of 25-35 mph, will continue through much of Friday before gradually subsiding into Sunday morning.
BITTER COLD:
As the winds relax, the actual air temperature has a chance to drop even lower. Saturday and Sunday morning will feature low temperatures in the single digits and in spots the temperature will fall to near 0. While the wind chill only affects humans, the colder actual air temperatures will have impacts on objects such as pipes and car batteries. Keep taking precautions like running your faucets throughout the day to prevent your pipes from freezing.
WINTRY MIX:
It finally appears the area will climb above freezing Monday afternoon, but we may have to deal with a wintry mix of freezing rain and a few snowflakes before the transition to plain rain takes over later Monday afternoon and evening.
WARMUP:
After that system clears. we'll make a run for the 50s to close out the work week.
