Vigil for Joseph Redman

Roanoke (WSLS) - Family and friends are looking for answers in an unsolved case for a man who was killed in Roanoke last year.

Two dozen people attended a vigil for Joseph Redman in the 800 block of Tazewell Avenue where he died.

Redman's family says it's been one year since he died from a stab wound in the chest.

Sister and niece read poems and later friends release balloons.

They were black and red, Redman's favorite colors.

They hope anyone with any information will come forward.

"We want someone to pay he's gone we want to we know it's not going to bring him back but we want someone to pay for taking him away from us we miss him we need him," Allison Ellis, Redman's girlfriend said.

Friends say Redman was a jokester. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone.

Redman was 30 years old when he died.
