ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A local tattoo artist hopes to make a difference and set a Guinness Book world record. Chip Thomas of Chips Custom Tat2 on Williamson Road hopes to set a record for the most awareness ribbons tattooed in a 24 hour period.
Thomas tattooed ribbons in six different colors and three different sizes. His goal is to raise awareness about autism and cancer.

People who are getting inked said it's all for a good cause.
"Raise as much money as he can get and it's for a great cause and I hope he continues to do it for years and years and everybody come down and get a tattoo or at least donate money it's for a great cause," Ginger Smith, who supported the cause said.
"This will make you think about cancer maybe get somebody in the doctor find out something early early detection is definitely the best route, Chip Thomas said.
