SALEM (WSLS 10) - An emergency call for what appeared to be a brush fire in Salem turned out to be something bigger.  Around 10 p.m. Saturday, Salem Fire and EMS Department workers responded to what they were told was a brush fire on Apperson Drive.
When they arrived, they realized there was heavy fire coming from a vacant commercial building.

It took crews about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. There were no injuries.
The fire marshal's office is investigating. No word yet on damage estimates.
