BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) -- A Blacksburg brewery is packaging its craft beer in a new way.
Right Mind Brewing Company at Lefty's Main Street Grille is now offering crowlers, a cross between a can and a growler.
Right Mind Brewing is one of, if not the first brewery in Southwest Virginia, to offer the oversized containers.
The crowler allows the brewery to offer its craft beer to go in a form that lasts longer and is more easily transported than its glass counterpart.
A crowler machine behind the bar seals the 32-ounce aluminum cans in seconds, adding another level of convenience for customers.
"If they forget theirs at home or they don't own one, they can come in and get something to go even if this is the first time they've been here and didn't even realize we were here. Instead of making an extra trip going home and getting a glass growler and coming back and filling that up," said Right Mind Brewing Brewmaster Evan Graham.
Graham says crowlers are perfect for tailgates and other outdoor activities.
"They're going to be great for tailgates and any sort of other outdoor activity, especially places where you can't take glass. They're pretty great. I use them all the time now," he said.
Graham says crowlers are lighter in weight and also recyclable.
