ROANOKE, Va. – In Iran, a powerful earthquake has left the region devastated.

More than 400 people have been killed and over 6,600 injured.

Most of the victims were in the Kerman-shah province of western Iran, according to Local TV.

The 7.3 magnitude quake also claimed lives in northern Iraq where at least seven have died.

Here in Roanoke, we spoke with two brothers whose families live in Iran.

“I was there for the majority of my life. I know the people. You see these things happen, and you cannot help. It’s just sad,” Far said.

“I hope they get better, you know, and to help them, you know, they need help,” Falzad said.

The Iraqi prime minister tweeted that health and aid agencies are providing assistance.
